China opens anti-dumping probe into EU para-aramid filament yarn

China’s Ministry of Commerce published Notice No. 57 of 2026: from 6 November it is investigating alleged dumping of EU-origin para-aramid filament yarn (aramid 1414), used in optical cable, PPE, tyres and battery casings.

China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) published Notice No. 57 of 2026 on 6 November 2026, opening an anti-dumping investigation into imports of para-aramid filament yarn originating in the European Union. The petition was filed on 12 October 2026 by Zhonghua High-Performance Fiber Materials Co., Ltd. (中化高性能纤维材料有限公司) and Tayho Advanced Materials Group Co., Ltd. (泰和新材集团股份有限公司) on behalf of the Chinese industry. First Finance (Yicai), Eastmoney and Cailian Press carried the notice minutes after it appeared on the Trade Remedy Investigation Bureau site.

The product under investigation is para-aramid filament yarn, also called aramid 1414 filament. Per the notice, it is a chemical-fibre filament made from aromatic polyamide in which at least 85% of the amide bonds link two benzene rings directly in the para position. All types of that filament are in scope, whether or not dyed, doubled, twisted, impregnated, coated or activated. Uses listed by MOFCOM include optical-fibre cable reinforcement, ballistic fabric, cut-resistant fabric, tyre cord, automotive hose and belts, rope and netting, and power-battery casings, with applications in optical communications, rubber, tyres, autos, protection, aerospace, sports and the environment.

The Chinese tariff codes cited are 54021120, 54026130 and 55011100; the notice itself excludes other products classified under those codes. The dumping period runs from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026; the injury period from 1 January 2023 to 30 June 2026. The investigation starts on 6 November 2026 and should normally finish by 6 November 2027, with a possible six-month extension. Interested parties have 20 days from publication to register via MOFCOM’s trade-remedy e-platform.

On the same day, MOFCOM also opened, under Notice No. 56 of 2026, an anti-dumping investigation into ethylidene norbornene (ENB) from the EU and Japan — a monomer used mainly in EPDM rubber. Those are separate cases; this article covers only para-aramid filament yarn.

CSP take: the notice does not impose an anti-dumping duty now; it creates risk of provisional or definitive duties and of a shift away from EU yarn in China. For global buyers, the practical point is the downstream chain: if a Chinese supplier of cable, PPE, tyres or battery packs uses EU-origin filament, cost and lead time can move if the probe advances. Ask for aramid-reinforcement origin and a price clause on the order. This reading is ours, not MOFCOM’s.
