A phone-linked capsule endoscope and a Chinese surgical robot look for buyers abroad
At the Canton Fair, Chinese medical equipment makers showed products that used to be imported. The next step is approval in Europe, the US and Southeast Asia.

A peanut-sized capsule endoscope caught foreign buyers’ attention at the 140th Canton Fair, China News Service reported on November 1. Patients swallow the capsule and stomach images appear in real time on a phone. The product, from Guangzhou Side Medical (思德医疗), weighs 3.1 grams and won the fair’s top design award (CF Supreme Gold), according to the 21st Century Business Herald.
The capsule received Class III medical device registration in China in July 2024 and is used in more than 300 institutions, the paper said. The company says its main hurdle abroad is approval: it is pursuing CE and FDA certification and expects to enter Southeast Asia first, at the end of 2026 or early 2027. In July it signed a letter of intent with a Pakistani distributor.
In the same hall, Harbin Sizherui (思哲睿) demonstrated an in-house laparoscopic surgical robot that expanded in Europe and Africa this year, training doctors through local partners. According to representative Li Hanying, European markets focus on technical performance and supply-chain stability, while Southeast Asia prioritises cost, ease of use and after-sales service. An Angolan buyer said he plans to trial portable endoscopes in primary care units.
CSP take: mid- to high-end Chinese medical equipment is reaching export readiness. For Brazil, the barriers are Anvisa registration and technical support; anyone looking to represent these brands should start by asking about certifications and the support plan.
