Brazil brings its largest pavilion in years to Shanghai’s import expo
The 9th CIIE, from November 5 to 10, has a record 4,142 foreign exhibitors. Brazil’s ApexBrasil-run space bets on coffee, açaí and barbecue.

The 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE) runs from November 5 to 10 in Shanghai with 4,142 foreign companies, the most in the event’s history, according to figures released by CCTV and republished by China News Service on November 2. Exhibition space exceeds 440,000 square metres for the first time, with more than 480 product launches and debuts.
Brazil has taken part every year. This time, the ApexBrasil-organised pavilion covers 1,032 square metres, the largest in recent years, according to the fair’s official site. It is the agency’s ninth straight year bringing Brazilian companies to the CIIE, which coincides with the China–Brazil Year of Culture.
The booth, in hall 5.2 (C4-05), will feature an XBOT robot making açaí ice cream with Acai Amazonas and Ecofood, Brazilian barbecue, and Luckin Coffee as the pavilion’s sole coffee partner. A capybara debuts as mascot, with giveaways and activities.
CSP take: the pavilion’s focus on food and consumer experience shows where Brazil sees room in Chinese retail. For food exporters, the CIIE is less about signing contracts than about finding distributors and testing products with Chinese consumers. This reading is ours, not the organisers’.
